Displacement Mapping
A Displacement Map is generally the same as a Bump Map. But in contrast to the bump map, the surface details are achieved by actually disorting the object's geometry according to the hight-values provided by the displacement map. As you can see this allows much stronger features, yet it does take longer to render.
